We build dramatic satellite pranks, not surveillance

Live Sat Tracker is a comedy project dressed up as a mission-control console.

We make internet pranks for a living, and this is our favourite one. Live Sat Tracker takes a spy-movie fantasy — a satellite that can find any phone on earth — and answers it with a gloriously over-produced fake orbital trace. Radar sweeps. Triangulation logs. A map that zooms from orbit down to a single rooftop. And then, the only honest part of the whole show: a wink that says gotcha.

What we actually do

Nothing you type is sent anywhere. There is no database, no account, no phone number leaving your browser — and definitely no satellite. The “trace” is a hand-built animation running entirely on your device. We couldn’t locate a phone if we tried — and we very much do not try.

Why the mission-control theme?

Because everyone has seen the movie where an analyst taps a keyboard and a satellite pins someone to a map in seconds. It makes for great theatre and terrible reality. The prank is fun; the lesson underneath it — that real location tech works nothing like the movies — is the part we actually mean. If you’re curious how it really works, we wrote a few honest notes that beat any fake map.

Use it kindly

Prank your friends, ambush your group chat, gasp at the reveal together. Just keep it consensual and good-natured. Read the plain-English explainer if you want to know how real satellite and GNSS location works — and why the movie version is mostly fiction.
